Amazon Fire Tablet – Engine Driver Features

The developer of Engine Driver actually acknowledges this exact issue on their official site. They noted that the Amazon Appstore version has fallen behind because the submission process became too restrictive to maintain regularly.

Since you need the latest version—especially if you’re looking for newer DCC-EX native protocol support, layout updates, or bug fixes—you have an excellent options.

Direct Download (Sideloading the Official APK)

This is the fastest, cleanest route. You download the update file directly from the developer’s official site.

  1. Allow Installation: On your Fire Tablet, open Settings > Security & Privacy (or Security on older models).
  2. Turn on Apps from Unknown Sources. If it asks you to pick a specific app, choose Silk Browser.
  3. Download the App: Open the Silk Browser on your tablet, go to the official downloads page: [https://enginedriver.mstevetodd.com/downloads/index.html]
  4. Tap the link for the latest production version (e.g., EngineDriver-2.42.221.apk or newer).
  5. Install: Once the download finishes, a prompt should pop up. Tap Install. (If it doesn’t pop up, open the Files or Docs app on your tablet, go to your Downloads folder, and tap the file there).

⚠️ Note: If the installation fails or throws an error, you may need to uninstall the old Amazon Appstore version first. Just make sure you back up or note any custom preference settings if you’ve heavily customized your throttle screen layouts.
