Troubleshooting
DCC-EX recommends a DC power supply suited to your layout scale and current needs. The CSB1 guide says the voltage should be between 12V and 25V DC, depending on scale, and should provide at least 2A with good over-current protection and voltage stability.
As a practical starting point:
- Z scale: around 12V is usually enough.
- N gauge: 12V to 14V is commonly recommended.
- HO/OO: 14V to 16V DC is commonly recommended.
- To get more from the CSB1, use a modern regulated switching power supply rated at 4A or more.
Do not assume higher voltage is better. Too much voltage can damage locomotives.
